Frequently Asked Questions about Pool Enclosures, Hot Tub Enclosures & Patio Enclosures

Securing of the enclosure against high winds

Our enclosures are designed and built to withstand your local building code requirements for wind. To prevent the enclosure from being damaged in high winds, it is necessary to keep the enclosure closed and locked into the rails as the enclosure works off of deflection. End panels and segments must be closed and locked as well as any door or window. Do not slide any segment of the enclosure during high winds. No person should be inside the enclosure during high winds.

Protection of the enclosure against heavy snow

Our enclosures are designed and built to withstand your local building code requirements for snow. You should prevent an accumulation of higher amounts of snow on the enclosure. The weight of wet snow is several times higher than fresh snow. For example one foot of new snow weights 5.2 lbs/sf while 3-5 inches of compacted snow weighs 5.2 lbs/sf and 1 inch of ice weights 5.2 lbs/sf. If removing snow is needed, it should be done symmetrically, preferably from both sides at once, so that the structure is not unevenly loaded.

What is the price of an Enclosure

The price depends on the model of chosen enclosure, the number of segments size, wind and snow load requirements and options. While we do offer Standard models and sizes, we also offer custom enclosures. Please contact us for a free no obligation quote.

Is it normal that the twin-wall polycarbonate has condensation inside?

Yes, condensation inside the twin-wall polycarbonate is normal and it is impossible to avoid it. This condensed water is disposed by drain channels.

Yes, our enclosures are designed and built for year-round use. The polycarbonate panels allow the sun’s rays in while providing good insulation properties. The enclosures frame is equipped with a vinyl sweep that seals in the warm air and reduces the draft. This creates a warm enclosed environment, minimizing heat loss.

Can leaves and bugs get into the enclosure?

They provide the perfect combination of strength, high impact resistance, good acoustical insulation, high clarity and light transmission. The polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable, flexible, lightweight, and weather resistant and protects against harmful UV radiation.

What types and color options do I have for the polycarbonate?

The COMPACT polycarbonate for both, the pool and spa enclosures are available in Clear (Transparent), Bronze Shaded Panels (Smoked) for Privacy or Embossed (Translucent) for complete Privacy. How do I clean the enclosure?

While very little maintenance is required, if you live in an area that produces a lot of dirt or dust, then occasional cleaning may be needed. The polycarbonate panels can be easily cleaned utilizing a soft sponge or cloth made from 100% cotton using lukewarm water and a mild dishwashing detergent. Utilization of a pressure washer with a fanned nozzle and mild detergent can also be used to help clean hard to reach areas.

General guidelines:

  • Never use abrasive or high alkaline cleaners on any polycarbonate product
  • Do not leave cleaners on polycarbonate for extended periods of time. Rinse immediately with cold, clean water.
  • Do not apply cleaners in direct sunlight.
  • Never use sharp objects, squeegees or razors on polycarbonate.
  • Always practice safety first and never step directly on a polycarbonate panel.
  • Always test cleaners in a small inconspicuous area prior to cleaning entire panel to insure against adverse results.
  • Avoid allowing the pressure washer spray tip to come too close to the panel.
  • Avoid cleaning while dry, as sand and dust particles clinging to the exterior of the panels may scratch the surface.

Will the enclosure affect my property taxes?

It shouldn’t as it is not considered a permanent structure, to be sure, please check with your local municipality.
